TITLAQ/TASAL

A site-specific project analyzing the vast theme of travel which can be explored from various angles and is identified by artists and audiences alike. The theme also has a direct link to the space. The windmill, built in 1724, has made its journey over the years and is one of the few remaining windmills in Malta which are preserved in working order.

The project took place in 2013 and consisted of an exhibition curated by Sabrina Calleja Jackson and Ryan Falzon, who also exhibited their work alongside artists Fabio D’Amato, Sarah Maria Scicluna and Andrea Zerafa. The exhibition was accompanied by a series of writings by Nigel Baldacchino, Leanne Ellul, Ryan Falzon, Marie Gion, Simon Sultana Harkins and Martha Vassallo all around the theme of voyage. During the opening night a reading took place at the Xarolla Windmill in Å»urrieq, coordinated by Glen Calleja.
